GARY LICHTENSTEIN is a world renowned silk screen printer and painter based in Jersey City NJ at Mana Contemporary. He has
collaborated with over ninety artists during the course of his 45 year career and has published a wide range of silkscreen editions and multiples with artists including Cey Adams, Charlie Ahearn, Jay Batlle, Janette Beckman, Michael DeFeo, Jane Dickson, Joanne Greenbaum, Bob Gruen, Gerard Hemsworth, Charles Hinman, Robert Indiana, Eugene Lemay, Richard Meier, John Miller, Rebecca Miller, John Newsom, Yigal Ozeri, Gary Panter, Rubem Robierb, Shelter Serra and Jessica Stockholder. He has printed for industry legends including Marina Abramovic, Karl Benjamin, Robert Cottingham, Alex Katz and Ken Price. Lichtenstein’s work has been exhibited and collected by, among others, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian, the San Francisco Art Institute, the Chicago Art Institute, the Butler Institute of American Art, the College of Art & Architecture at the University of Tennessee, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Silvermine Arts Center and the International Print Center NYC. Gary Lichtenstein’s vision and artistic intellect are uniquely his own and clearly evident throughout the enormous portfolio of work.
ABOUT THE WORK
The limited edition silk screen images that appear in the guest rooms of the Canopy Hotel were based on the former historic Dixon Mills Pencil Factory in Downtown Jersey City. A series of three images were created that alternate within each guest room – titled Dixon No. 1, 2, 3.
