RICARDO ROIG creates an innovative process by hand cutting paper stencils and overlapping layers of paint on paper to form
original screen prints. He applies this printmaking concept and his background in painting to create large scale murals which can be seen at Amazon’s Corporate Office & Warehouse in Woodbridge NJ, W Hotel Hoboken Gym mural, City of Hoboken "Chang" Mural, Westfield Mural for the Town of Westfield, The Hoboken Legion and the Hoboken Mural for Napolis Restaurant. He lives and maintains an art studio in Hoboken, NJ.
ABOUT THE WORK
PRE-FUNCTION MURAL CONCEPT: Homage to the Powerhouse District & the historical businesses that have planted their flags here. This original hand cut spray painted stencil mural displays rich imagery that represents the history of this Powerhouse district of Jersey City like the DIXON and J Leo Cooke Warehouses and Fire Engine #1 building. Famed historic brands like Lorillard Cigar, Royal Baking Powder, Eckersine Butterine, and Dixon pencils are referenced throughout the piece to pay respects to the original industries that built Jersey City. Spanning the center of the mural is the Pulaski Skyway which flies over the city and brings us downtown to connect the two sides of this expansive art experience. To the right wall, we see a Jersey City journalist working on the large mechanical press to show that the great resource of Jersey City lies in its people with their innovative approach to commerce, business, and sharing their voice in a culture all their own.
